Penang SY - Johor Tigers 70-100 An interesting game for Johor Tigers (9-1) which played road game in Penang against 4th placed Penang SY (4-7). First ranked Johor Tigers had an easy win 100-70. Johor Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Penang SY's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tevin Glass (206-1994, college: ETSU, agency: BIG) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international forward Liang Chuan Yek (188-1997) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Johor Tigers players scored in double figures. Australian Jean-Luc Morel answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Chien-Chong Lee added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Penang SY. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Johor Tigers have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-1 record. Penang SY at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with KL Aseel. Johor Tigers are looking forward to face KL Aseel (#4) in Kuala Lumpur in the next round. Penang SY will play on the road against Adroit in Singapore and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Fourth ranked KL Aseel (4-7) played at the court of 6th ranked Pegasus (2-8). KL Aseel did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 91-73 on Saturday. KL Aseel outrebounded Pegasus 52-37 including 38 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Zhen-Jie Tem (177-1998) who led the winners and scored 27 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Nigerian center Prince Eze (211-1993) accounted for 12 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Filipino forward Andrian Celada (190-1988) came up with 28 points and 7 rebounds and guard John Tang (185-2001) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Pegasus in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KL Aseel maintains fourth place with 4-7 record, which they share with Penang SY. Pegasus lost their seventh game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. KL Aseel will meet at home league's leader Johor Tigers in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pegasus will play against the league's second-placed NS Matrix (#2) and hope to secure a win. Third ranked Adroit managed to get a 5-point victory 93-88. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of NS Matrix. Adroit dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to NS Matrix's 28. Adroit had a 38-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American-Thailand Moses Morgan (198-1992, college: CS Fullerton) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. Singapore guard Zhong-Han Wong (186-1997) helped adding 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Adroit players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international forward Xian-Fu Ooi (187-2000) responded with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Jia-Hao Hiew (173-2001) scored 21 points. NS Matrix's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Adroit maintains third place with 6-5 record having just two points less than leader Johor Tigers. NS Matrix at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Adroit will play against Penang SY (#5) at home in the next round. NS Matrix will play against Pegasus in Bandar Seri Begawan and hopes to get back on the winning track.
