Johor Tigers clinched their first ever MBL title. They held off Penang SY to sweep the championship series. Johor Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Penang SY's 38. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Johor Tigers made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Jabari Bird (198-1994, college: California) who scored 23 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. The other American import forward Christian Anigwe (206, college: UC Davis) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. American-Thailand point guard Frederick Lish (175-1988, college: USA) produced 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Ukrainian forward Yevgen Sakhniuk (201-1995, college: Jefferson) added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Penang SY's coach Guan-Tan Seak rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win.

De'Quan Abrom, American shooting guard from the Negeri Sembilan Matrix, was voted the Player of the Year at the Major Basketball League. He graduated from Belmont Abbey College five years ago. Abrom received multiple other awards, was selected as the Guard of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Import Player of the Year and was chosen to the First Team. He was previously honored as the Finals MVP, Guard of the Year and named to the First Team last year. Abrom was the Player of the Week honoree in the league. His consistent performance as a playmaker earned him the third ranked in points per game, showcasing average of almost 20. Abrom also averaged over 5 rebounds per game in the league. He has totalled 6 games of 20 or more points on the year and recorded 30 or more points in 2 games. Abrom's 42 points against the Johor Tigers were the most he scored in the 24 25 season. 9 out of the top 10 highest scorers in the league are alumni of US colleges. He won the Malaysian MBL championship title in 2024.
The standout American guard Jabari Bird earned the Finals MVP of the championship-winning Johor Southern Tigers. He is the California alumni from 2017. Bird also earned a spot in the First Team. His excellent performance assisted his team in beating Penang Sunrise Youngsters 2 to 0 in the final series. Bird registered over 6 rebounds per game that season in the league. He received Player of the Week award twice during the 24 25 campaign. Bird led the MBL in points per game with over 21. Among many awards Bird's team won the Mexican CIBACOPA Regular Season in 2023. He was selected as the Asia-Basket All-Indonesian IBL Honorable Mention in 2024.
The standout American forward Christian Anigwe picked up the Forward of the Year of the championship-winning Johor Southern Tigers. He is ex-UC Davis from 2023. Anigwe was also voted to the First Team. His excellent performance assisted his team in beating Penang Sunrise Youngsters 2 to 0 in the final series. Anigwe showcased his talent by ranking fifth in points per game with an average of almost 19 and third in rebounds per game with an average of almost 11. He has totalled 5 games of 20 or more points and logged double-doubles in 7 games on the year. Anigwe's 28 points against Putrajaya were the most he scored in the 24 25 season. 9 out of the top 10 highest scorers in the league are alumni of US colleges. Anigwe's team made it to the Big West Tournament Semifinals in 2021.
Jock Perry, 27-year old Australian center from the Sarawak Cola Warriors, was named the Center of the Year of Major Basketball League. He is alumni of UC Riverside from 2021. Perry was also selected to the First Team. He registered over 14 points per game over the season in the league. Perry led the MBL in rebounds per game with almost 13. He has totalled 4 games of 20 or more points and notched double-doubles in 9 games on the year. Perry's 26 points against the Johor Tigers were the most he scored in the 24 25 season. He played in the final of the Australian NBL in 2022.
Frederick Lish, 36-year old American point guard from the Penang Sunrise Youngsters, was chosen to the First Team at the Major Basketball League. He graduated from the South Alabama twelve years ago. Lish's best performance made his team reach the finals but they unfortunately were defeated by the Johor Tigers 0 to 2. He orchestrated his way to the second spot in points per game, showcasing a dazzling average of over 20. Lish also averaged over 6 rebounds per game in the league. He has totalled 5 games of 20 or more points on the year and recorded 30 or more points in 2 games. Lish registered double-doubles in 3 games at the event. His 35 points against Sarawak Cola Warriors were the most he scored in the 24 25 season. 9 out of the top 10 highest scorers in the league are alumni of US colleges. Among many awards he played in the final of the Thailand BTL in 2024. He was also selected as the Asia-Basket All-Thailand Basketball League Player of the Year as well as the All-Thailand Basketball League Import Player of the Year and the All-Thailand Basketball First Team back in 2020.

Negeri Sembilan clinch Agong Cup 2024 title in Malaysia. In the final game they edged Johor 85-57. Chun Hong Ting led the way with 27 points and Yi Hou Wong poured in 22. Wei Yong Ong and Zi Fueng Chang followed them with 8 points each in a win. Yee Tong Heng replied with 13 points in the losing effort, whilst Liang Chuan Yek poured in 10.
