Johor Tigers clinched their first ever MBL title. They held off Penang SY to sweep the championship series. Johor Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Penang SY 's 38. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Johor Tigers made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Jabari Bird (198-1994, college: California) who scored 23 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. The other American import forward Christian Anigwe (206, college: UC Davis) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. American-Thailand point guard Frederick Lish (175-1988, college: USA) produced 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Ukrainian forward Yevgen Sakhniuk (201-1995, college: Jefferson) added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Penang SY's coach Guan-Tan Seak rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win.
