Segamat BA celebrate MWBL title - Nov 13, 2017


Segamat Basketball Association staved off a late surge from Selangor Megainn to claim their third Malaysia Women Basketball League (MWBL) title. The Johor-side ended Megainn's title dream with a 55-51 win in yesterday's final at the Maba Stadium. It was Megainn's second loss in the final as they were beaten 56-68 by KL Binapuri last season. Megainn were the favourites, having gone into the final with an unbeaten record. They also started well by taking a 12-10 lead in the first quarter. Megainn then put up a massive fight in the final quarter. But Segamat held on to notch a four-point win. Singaporean import Cheryl Poon topscored for Segamat with 19 points while centre Rajintran Kalaimathi (94) contributed 10 points. For Megainn, point guard Yin Yin Chong (166-G-93) had 19 points while Wei Yin Saw (166-PG-92) added 14 points.
