WLBL Round 14 (Regular Season): Damour beat higher ranked Antranik

The Regular Season in WLBL is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The game with biggest difference of round 14 was host Damour's (5-10) victory at home over 5th ranked Antranik (6-8) 63-58 on Sunday evening. Damour forced 21 Antranik turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international Nathalie Sevadjian (170-1988) who scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Rana Safi (-1991) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Damour's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Joudy Harake produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds for the guests. Damour moved-up to sixth place, which they share with NSA. Antranik lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Damour is looking forward to face Almtayleb (#9) in the next round. Antranik will play against NSA (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Leader Homentmen delivered the fourteenth victory. This time they crushed 9th ranked Almtayleb (1-13) 105-61 in Antelias. International guard Perla Nasr (177-1999) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Reem El Ghali contributed with 24 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Homentmen A.'s coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Mathilda Khalil replied with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for Almtayleb. Homentmen (14-1) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Almtayleb lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 13 games lost. Homentmen will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Almtayleb will play against Damour (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

NSA will play against Antranik in Beirut and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 14 Al Riyadi crushed Bkennaya in Beirut 100-68.
The best stats of 14th round was 14 points and 7 rebounds by Magalie Chahoud of Damour.

NSA - Azour 58-91

The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Azour (11-3) played at the court of 6th ranked NSA (5-10). Azour smashed NSA 91-58 on Saturday. Azour dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to NSA's 24. They outrebounded NSA 40-29 including 26 on the defensive glass. Azour looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international Tina Raffoul (180-1998) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Patil Assadourian (174-2004) chipped in 20 points during the contest. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international Nancy Maalouf (174-1988) responded with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Syrita Faraj (175, college: St.Rose, NY) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Leader Homentmen delivered the fourteenth victory. This time they crushed 9th ranked Almtayleb (1-13) 105-61 in Antelias. Homentmen forced 19 Almtayleb turnovers and outrebounded them 59-33 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Homentmen players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Almtayleb's players. International guard Perla Nasr (177-1999) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international Reem El Ghali (181-2007) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Four Homentmen A. players scored in double figures. There was no surprise when 8th ranked Bkennaya (4-9) was crushed at home by second ranked Al Riyadi (13-1) 100-68 on Sunday. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Bkennaya's 26 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Al Riyadi forced 27 Bkennaya turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Bkennaya's players. The former international Rebecca Akl (170-1992) scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Narine Gyokchyan (187-1993) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) during the contest.
