Al Riyadi inks Maurice Kemp, ex Ponce

Maurice Kemp

Defending champion Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut (DLBL) agreed terms with experienced 34-year old American power forward Maurice Kemp (203cm-1991, college: ECU) for new 2025-26 season. He joins another USA player Perrin Buford who is already in the roster. He was second best scorer at Leones de Ponce in Puerto Rican BSN league. In 5 games just recently he had 11.2ppg, 7.2rpg and 1.6apg. The last season he played at Giorgio Tesi Group Pistoia (Serie A) in Italian league. He also spent pre-season at Sturgeons (CBA) in Chinese league.
He is a very experienced player. Kemp has played in twelve different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, and North America). He has played professionally in Argentina (Obras), China (Loong Lions), Estonia (Kalev/Cramo and Rapla), Greece (Panorama), Hungary (Alba), Israel (Maccabi Effie Capital Rishon Le-Zion and Bnei Kemprtzeliya), Italy, Spain (Fuenlabrada), Uruguay (Nacional), Lebanon (Tadamon), and NBA G League (Cleveland Charge). He played in the final of the Puerto Rican League in 2025.
Among many awards, he was voted to Eurobasket.com Israeli League All-Imports Team in 2023.
Kemp graduated from East Carolina University in 2013 and it will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) season as a professional player. He played for other colleges like Miami Dade College and Alabama A&M University.
