Sagesse - Al Hekmeh Beirut (LBL) signed experienced 36-year old American center Malcolm Thomas (206cm-102kg-1988, college: SDSU, agency: Slash Sports) for upcoming 2025 season. He was top rebounder at Buyukcekmece in Turkish BSL league last season where in 17 games he had 8.2ppg, 7.5rpg (#5 in the league) and 2.6apg. Good season as he was named League Player of the Week.
He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
Thomas is quite experienced player. He has played in twelve different countries on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America). Thomas has played previously professionally in China (Loongs and Jilin Tigers), Germany (Bayern Muenchen), Israel, Korea (Mobis Phoebus and Wonju DB), Philippines (Bolts), Puerto Rico (Piratas), Russia (Khimki and Samara), Spain (Unicaja), Turkey (Fenerbahce and Petkimspor), NBA (Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs), NBA G League (Santa Cruz Warriors) and The Basketball Tournament (Few Good Men and Team Overtime).
Among many awards his team made it to the Drew League Semifinals in 2019. He was voted to Eurobasket.com Turkish League All-Imports Team back in 2022.
Thomas is close to retirement age as a player. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Sagesse.
He graduated from San Diego State University in 2011 and it will be his 14th (!!!) season as a professional player. Thomas played for other colleges like: San Diego City College, Pepperdine University.
