Lebanese LBL round 18 best performance: Ibrahima Thomas (by Hoops Agents)- February 15, 2023
The 35-year old player had a double-double of 33 points and 15 rebounds, while his team beat Al Riyadi (#4, 12-3) 87-79. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Dynamo to consolidate first place in the Lebanese LBL. Dynamo has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 15-1. In the team's last game Thomas had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 13 attempts. He turned to be Dynamo's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of Cincinnati star has very solid stats this year. Thomas is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 8.4rpg) and averages impressive 1.3bpg,60.0% FGP and 44.6% from behind 3-point line. The second best player in last round's games was young American Cliff Alexander (203-C/F-1995, agency: MSG) of league's second-best Sagesse. Alexander had a very good evening with a double-double of 26 points and 16 rebounds. Bad luck as Sagesse lost that game 73-83 to slightly higher-ranked Dynamo (#1, 15-1). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Sagesse still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. It was just his team's 2nd loss this season, while they won 14 other games. Alexander is a newcomer at Sagesse, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 25.0ppg (#2). He also registered 13.8 boards per game. Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Myles Carter (185-G-1999) of Atlas (#10). Carter got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for six rebounds and eight assists. Despite Carter's great performance Atlas lost 76-95 to the higher-ranked Beirut Club (#3, 14-2). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Atlas can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 4-12 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Carter he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Carter has individually a great season in Lebanon. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.9ppg (5th best), rebounds with 7.7rpg (8th best) and assists with 4.7apg (8th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Jimmy Salem (190-G-1995) of Champville - 29 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Jordan Jackson (190-G-1997) of Antranik - 33 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists 6. Christophe Khalil (192-G/F-1999) of Liders - 27 points and 13 rebounds 7. Mason Harrell (203-F/C-1997) of Atlas - 20 points and 18 rebounds 8. Amir Saoud (186-G-1991) of Al Riyadi - 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists 9. Wael Arakji (194-G-1994) of Al Riyadi - 26 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists 10. Phillip Rankin (203-F-1995) of Byblos - 24 points and 20 rebounds The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
