LBL Round 13: Dynamo beat Beirut Club in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Beirut: Dynamo (#2) and Beirut Club (#3). Dynamo (9-1) crushed visiting Beirut Club (8-2) by 21 points 92-71. It was a key game for the second position in the league. American guard Zach Lofton (193-1992, college: NM State, agency: Slash Sports) fired 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international swingman Ahmad Ibrahim (198-1992, college: Rice) chipped in 25 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Kenny Hayes (189-1987, college: Miami, OH) produced 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for lost side. Dynamo have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 9-1 record having just one point less than leader Sagesse. Defending champion Beirut Club dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Dynamo are looking forward to face NSA (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Beirut Club will have a break next round.
The game in was also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked Champville (5-5) played at the court of 7th ranked NSA (3-7). Champville managed to secure a 4-point victory 69-65. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Marc Abi-Kheres (197-1994) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds. Jimmy Salem contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Champville's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Dallas Morgan (185, college: CMU) answered with 30 points and 8 rebounds for NSA. Champville maintains fifth place with 5-5 record. Newly promoted NSA keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Champville will play against bottom-ranked Byblos (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. NSA will play against the league's second-placed Dynamo (#2) in Beirut and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Julian Scott stepped up and scored 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. At the losing side Ibrahim Haddad responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hoops moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams. Byblos lost their third game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Hoops will meet at home Atlas (#9) in the next round. Byblos will play against Champville in Dik El Mehdi and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 13 Atlas were defeated by Homentmen in Beirut 85-76.



Homentmen - Atlas 85-76

There was a minor upset in Beirut where 7th ranked Atlas (3-7) were defeated by tenth ranked Homentmen (3-7) 85-76 on Monday. American point guard Jesse Jones (183, college: Bridgeport) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Joshua Caldwell (203-1991, college: William Penn, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) chipped in 31 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Caldwell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American guard Myles Carter (185-1999, college: Delaware St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and guard George Yves-Daaboul (178-1995) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Atlas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Homentmen moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Atlas. Homentmen's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Beirut to the arena Antranik.

Byblos - Hoops 56-83

The game with biggest result difference took place in Byblos. Local Byblos (1-9) were outscored by eleventh ranked Hoops (3-7) 83-56 on Monday night. Hoops dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Byblos' 30. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American power forward Julian Scott (203-1990, college: ASU) stepped up and scored 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Chris Washburn (203-1993, college: TCU) chipped in 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Hoops players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international Ibrahim Haddad (-1998) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Victor Bermudez (193-1992, college: Texas St., agency: BIG) scored 14 points.
