LBL Round 11: Derby game ends with Al Riyadi's defeat of Antranik

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Beirut: Al Riyadi (#4) and Antranik (#7). Antranik was crushed at home by 40 points 63-103 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Antranik's 28 and made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Antranik 45-32 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Riyadi looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American Ricky Ledo (201-1992, college: Providence, agency: Slash Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. International center Ater Majok (210-1987, college: UConn) contributed with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. American guard Jordan Jackson (190-1997, college: UTRGV) answered with 24 points and 5 assists for Antranik. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al Riyadi have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Dynamo. Antranik lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Al Riyadi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Antranik will play against Liders (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Dik El Mehdi supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Dynamo (8-1) played at the court of 5th ranked Champville (4-5). Dynamo smashed Champville 98-55. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Ahmad Ibrahim (198-1992, college: Rice) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Zach Lofton helped adding 21 points and 8 assists. Dynamo's coach Jad El Hajj felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Jimmy Salem (190-1995) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Dynamo have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Riyadi. Champville at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost.
A very close game took place in Beirut between Homentmen and Byblos. Eleventh ranked Homentmen (2-7) got a very close home victory over 10th ranked Byblos (1-8). Homentmen managed to escape with a 2-point win 88-86 on Monday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Joshua Caldwell who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. Homentmen's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Victor Bermudez came up with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for Byblos in the defeat. Homentmen moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Hoops. Loser Byblos dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost.

In the last two games of round 11 NSA were beaten by Hoops on the road 61-58. Atlas won against Liders on its own court 91-85.



Champville - Dynamo 55-98

The game in Dik El Mehdi supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Dynamo (8-1) played at the court of 5th ranked Champville (4-5). Dynamo smashed Champville 98-55. Dynamo dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Champville's 32. Dynamo forced 19 Champville turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Ahmad Ibrahim (198-1992, college: Rice) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Zach Lofton (193-1992, college: NM State, agency: Slash Sports) helped adding 21 points and 8 assists. Five Dynamo players scored in double figures. Dynamo's coach Jad El Hajj felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international guard Jimmy Salem (190-1995) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Ruot Monyyong (210-1998, college: UALR) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks. Hoops - NSA 61-58

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Hoops (2-7) edged higher ranked NSA (3-6) in Beirut 61-58 on Tuesday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hoops made 8 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Chris Washburn (203-1993, college: TCU) who led the winners and scored 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Point guard Joseph Zaloum (180-1990) accounted for 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Four Hoops players scored in double figures. American forward Anthony Fairley (203-1999, college: Miles) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks and the other American import point guard Isaiah Hammons (194-1997, college: MACU) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for NSA in the defeat. NSA's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hoops moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Homentmen. Newly promoted NSA keeps the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with 3 other teams.

Atlas - Liders 91-85

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Liders (3-6) lost to ninth ranked Atlas (3-6) in Zahle 85-91 on Thursday. Atlas outrebounded Liders 47-33 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Atlas made 7 blocks. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for guard Myles Carter (185-1999, college: Delaware St.) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Sidney Wilson (201-1999, college: SIUE, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) accounted for 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winning side. Atlas' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Alex Peacock (199-1997, college: Texas St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and center Kerwin Smith (208-1995, college: ORU, agency: Interperformances) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Liders in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Atlas moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Liders. Atlas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Liders will play against Antranik (#9) in Beirut and hope to secure a win.

Homentmen - Byblos 88-86

A very close game took place in Beirut between Homentmen and Byblos. Eleventh ranked Homentmen (2-7) got a very close home victory over 10th ranked Byblos (1-8). Homentmen managed to escape with a 2-point win 88-86 on Monday evening. Homentmen made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Byblos turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Joshua Caldwell (203-1991, college: William Penn, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Jesse Jones (183, college: Bridgeport) accounted for 25 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winning side. Caldwell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Homentmen's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Victor Bermudez (193-1992, college: Texas St., agency: BIG) came up with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international Ibrahim Haddad (-1998) added 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Byblos in the defeat. Four Byblos players scored in double figures. Homentmen moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Hoops. Loser Byblos dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost.
