LBL Round 7: Homentmen win their first game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Homentmen can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Hoops (1-5) 85-82 on Tuesday. Homentmen made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. American center Jarred Shaw (208-1990, college: Utah St.) fired a double-double by scoring 29 points and 17 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winners. His fellow American import point guard Jesse Jones (183, college: Bridgeport) chipped in 31 points and 4 assists. American power forward Julian Scott (203-1990, college: ASU) produced 25 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. Homentmen maintains tenth place with 1-5 record, which they share with defeated Hoops. Homentmen is looking forward to face higher ranked Champville (#5) in Dik El Mehdi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hoops' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Beirut Club.
Leader Sagesse blasted bottom-ranked Byblos (0-6) in Byblos 105-66 keeping the perfect record after 7 rounds. Byblos is still unable to win any game. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Cliff Alexander (203-1995, college: Kansas, agency: MSG) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 19 rebounds. Ali Mezher contributed with 11 points and 13 assists for the winners. American guard Victor Bermudez (193-1992, college: Texas St., agency: BIG) answered with 24 points and 4 assists for Byblos. Undefeated Sagesse (6-0) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Beirut Club. Byblos at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Sagesse will play against Atlas (#7) in Zahle in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Byblos will play at home against Al Riyadi (#4) and hope to get finally their first victory.
The game in was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Al Riyadi (5-1) played at the court of 7th ranked NSA (2-4). Al Riyadi managed to secure a 7-point victory 83-76 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Wael Arakji who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 6 assists. At the losing side Anthony Fairley responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Al Riyadi moved-up to third place, which they share with Dynamo. Newly promoted NSA keeps the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Atlas and Liders. Al Riyadi will meet bottom-ranked Byblos (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. NSA will play against Liders (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 7 Atlas were defeated by Antranik in Beirut 89-87. Liders were beaten by Dynamo at home 80-95.
The best stats of 7th round was 30 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists by Zach Lofton of Dynamo.

Antranik - Atlas 89-87

Everything could happen in Beirut at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Antranik and 8th ranked Atlas had identical 2-3 record. This time Antranik used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Zahle 89-87 on Thursday night. It was a great evening for American guard Jordan Jackson (190-1997, college: UTRGV) who led his team to a victory scoring 35 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Forward William Sawan (201-1998) helped adding 16 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Myles Carter (185-1999, college: Delaware St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Sidney Wilson (201-1999, college: SIUE, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) scored 29 points and 7 rebounds. Antranik (3-3) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Champville. Loser Atlas dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with NSA and Liders. Antranik will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Atlas will play against the league's second-placed Sagesse (#2) and hope to secure a win.

Byblos - Sagesse 66-105

Leader Sagesse blasted bottom-ranked Byblos (0-6) in Byblos 105-66 keeping the perfect record after 7 rounds. Byblos is still unable to win any game. Sagesse dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Byblos' 36. They outrebounded Byblos 41-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. Sagesse players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Cliff Alexander (203-1995, college: Kansas, agency: MSG) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 19 rebounds. International point guard Ali Mezher (182-1994) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 assists for the winners. Five Sagesse players scored in double figures. Liders - Dynamo 80-95

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Dynamo (5-1) defeated on the road 6th ranked Liders (2-4) 95-80 on Saturday. Dynamo forced 22 Liders turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Zach Lofton (193-1992, college: NM State, agency: Slash Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Senegalese forward Ibrahima Thomas (213-1987, college: Cincinnati, agency: BIG) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds. Dynamo's coach Jad El Hajj used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Youssef Ghantous (191-1996) responded with 22 points and 6 assists and Mike Haddad scored 19 points. Dynamo maintains third place with 5-1 record behind leader Beirut Club, which they share with Al Riyadi. Newly promoted Liders dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Atlas and NSA. Dynamo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Liders will play against NSA (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
