Homentmen - Antranik 73-84 Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Beirut: Antranik (#6) and Homentmen (#9). Homentmen was defeated at home 73-84 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Antranik players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a great evening for Ahmad Ekkewi who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Youssef Ghantous (191-1996) helped adding 20 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Five Antranik players scored in double figures. Power forward Elios Saad (202-2001) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds and Serouj Avedissian scored 10 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Antranik have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Antranik maintains sixth place with 11-8 record. Homentmen at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Atlas. Third ranked Al Riyadi (15-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Atlas (4-15). Al Riyadi smashed Atlas 100-58 on Thursday. Al Riyadi dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Atlas' 16. They outrebounded Atlas 51-25 including a 37-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Riyadi looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Atlas' players. The former international swingman Mark Alkhoury (196-1998) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field). The former international Bilal Tabbara (198-1993) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Four Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. Al Riyadi's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leonel Lahoud answered with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Mohamad Al Malla added 16 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Atlas. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Atlas lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Homentmen.
