LBL Round 2: Moutahed lose to Beirut Club

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in LBL. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Moutahed in Tripoli on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by Beirut Club 73-66. Beirut Club outrebounded Moutahed 42-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Georges Beirouty who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international forward Patrick Bou Abboud (199-87) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Ibrahim Haddad (-98) produced 21 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Beirut Club is looking forward to face Byblos at home in the next round. Moutahed will play against Anibal in Zahle and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Byblos. Local Byblos beat Homentmen 88-70. Mohamad Skaf orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. Bechara Boustany contributed with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Karim Jadayel (191-92) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for Homentmen. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Byblos will play against Beirut Club on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Homentmen will play against Champville and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 2 Hoops defeated Champville in Beirut 80-68.



Champville - Hoops 68-80

There was no surprise in Dik El Mehdi where Champville was defeated by Hoops 80-68. Hoops forced 20 Champville turnovers. Guard Georges Choueiry (184-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points. Naturalized French guard Gabriel Salibi (203, college: Northeastern St., agency: BIG) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Elias Rustom (197-87) replied with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and international Aziz Abdel Massih (192-96) added 20 points in the effort for Champville. Hoops' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Sagesse.
