Higher League Round 9: SHUM is defeated by Alga in a derby game

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Bishkek: Alga (#1) and SHUM (#5). SHUM was crushed at home by 25 points 59-84 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game without a history. Alga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 22 SHUM turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Alga made 7 blocks. Guard Nurtay Subanbekov (185-92) stepped up and scored 32 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Zhanysh Adiev (190-90) chipped in 20 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals. The best for the losing side was center Rustam Dzhangirov (-96) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 23 rebounds. Undefeated Alga (7-0) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Newly promoted Alga maintains first place with a perfect record of 7 victories in a row. SHUM at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost.

Gines-29 was defeated at home 59-66 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Aman Abdykerim (202-94) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and Dmitrii Danshin accounted for 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international point guard Shakirzhan Kuranbaev (170-84) came up with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for Gines-29 in the defeat. Gines-29's coach rotated seventeen players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gines-29 Jr.. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Legion. Gines-29 at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost.

The best player for the winners was Stas Lukonin who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Nikolay Bobrov who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Legion maintains third place with 5-3 record having just one point less than leader Alga, which they share with Gines-29 Jr. Politekhnik lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost.

Gines-29 - Gines-29 Jr. 59-66

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Bishkek: Gines-29 Jr. (#4) and Gines-29 (#2). Gines-29 was defeated at home 59-66 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It looked good early as Gines-29 took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gines-29 Jr. had a 27-13 second period charge getting the lead and Gines-29 was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 59-66. Gines-29 Jr. dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Gines-29's 20 and made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Gines-29 Jr. forced 19 Gines-29 turnovers and outrebounded them 51-39 including 19 on the offensive glass. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Aman Abdykerim (202-94) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and center Dmitrii Danshin (197-94) accounted for 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Gines-29 Jr. players scored in double figures. Politekhnik was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 19-11 charge of Legion, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was center Stas Lukonin (206-88) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Baish Adiev (192-90) chipped in 22 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Nikolay Bobrov (190-0) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Syimyk Esenaliev (181-0) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Legion maintains third place with 5-3 record having just one point less than leader Alga, which they share with Gines-29 Jr. Politekhnik lost their fifth game in a row.
