The most exciting game of round 24 in the D1 took place in Atyrau. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Barsy Atyrau (8-10) to sixth ranked Zhetysu (3-13) 69-66 on Wednesday evening. 29 personal fouls committed by Barsy Atyrau helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was swingman Dariya Kovaleva (174-2002) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Aiya Nurgozhanova (175-2006) chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Latvian guard Katrina Trankale (173-2002) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. Barsy Atyrau's coach Anastasiya Vakulina rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Zhetysu maintains sixth position with 3-13 record, which they share with Caspiy Aktau. It was a good game for the former international forward Kamazhay Otegenova (180-2001) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. Xeniya Abdurashitova contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international forward Ulyana Kudrevtseva (175-1999) replied with 17 points and 9 rebounds for Turan. Irtysh moved-up to third place, which they share with Okzhetpes. Turan at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. Irtysh will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
