The most exciting game of round 18 in the D1 took place in Kokshetay. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th ranked Okzhetpes (7-5) to second ranked Turan (9-7) 66-63 on Saturday evening. Turan made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The former international point guard Milana Alyoshkova (162-2002) scored 24 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Russian forward Elizaveta Galynina (182-2003) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Russian guard Yuliya Antonevich (178-2002) with 22 points. Turan maintains second position with 9-7 record having just one point less than leader Tigers. Okzhetpes at the other side keep the fourth place with five games lost.
Important game to mention about took place in Kokshetay. Fourth ranked Okzhetpes (7-5) saved a 3-point victory at home edging second-best Turan (9-7) 52-49 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Turan. International power forward Nadezhda Yakovleva (183-2003) notched a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and Yuliya Antonevich supported her with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Even 13 points and 5 steals by the former international point guard Milana Alyoshkova (162-2002) did not help to save the game for Turan. Okzhetpes maintains fourth position with 7-5 record. Turan at the other side keeps the second place with seven games lost.
The game in Taldykorgan was also quite interesting. Third ranked Irtysh (8-6) played at the court of 7th ranked Zhetysu (2-10). Irtysh defeated Zhetysu 80-66 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Liya Umerova who scored 23 points and 9 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Dariya Kovaleva who recorded 21 points and 5 rebounds. Zhetysu's coach Evgeniy Prokopchik rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Irtysh have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 8-6 record having two points less than leader Tigers. Newly promoted Zhetysu stay at the bottom place with ten games lost.
In the last game of round 18 Irtysh won against Zhetysu on the opponent's court 76-64.
