Kazakhstan Higher League round 20 best performance: Vitaliy Shmik

Vitaliy Shmik (2009) had a very impressive game in the last round for Champ1on, receiving a Hoops Agents Higher League Player of the Week award for round 20.
The 16-year old player had a double-double of 22 points and 21 rebounds, while his team beat Oral (#10, 4-7) 77-63. Champ1on maintains the 8th position in Kazakhstan Higher League. Champ1on is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-9 record. Shmik turned to be Champ1on's top player in his first season with the team. Vitaliy Shmik averages this season 13.3ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Sabir Tagiev (200-PF-2006) of Almaty Legion. Tagiev had a very good evening with a double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds. Of course he led Almaty L. to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Oral (#10, 4-7) 104-57. Almaty L.'s 7th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 8-8 record is not bad and everything may still change. Tagiev is one of the most experienced players at Almaty L. and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Champ1on's star - guard Roman Shabatura (191-PG-2007). Shabatura scored 25 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. He was another key player of Champ1on, helping his team with a 77-63 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Oral (#10, 4-7). The chances of Champ1on ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Shabatura could help Champ1on to bring them higher in the standings. Shabatura has a very solid season. In 13 games in Kazakhstan he scored 14.6ppg. He also has 8.1rpg and a FGP of 57.3%.
