Kazakhstan Higher League round 17 best performance: Nikolay Bazhin

International Forward Nikolay Bazhin (198-F-1990) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked MBK Kazygurt Shymkent, receiving a Hoops Agents Higher League Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 35-year old player was the main contributor (31 points, six rebounds and three assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Bars (#5, 11-5) with 18-point margin 94-76. Shymkent maintains the 2nd position in Kazakhstan Higher League. They are still close to the very top. Shymkent would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 16-2 record. In the team's last game Bazhin had a remarkable 87.5% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be Shymkent's top player in his first season with the team. Nikolay Bazhin averages this season 13.8ppg, 8.3rpg and 5.8apg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Saveliy Shestak (200-C-2007) of Karaganda. Shestak had a very good evening with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Of course he led Karaganda to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Kaspiy-2 (#15, 1-17) 86-63. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Karaganda keeps 10th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-9 record. Shestak is well-known at Karaganda and is a proven leader in his second season with the team.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Sergey Dyatlik (194-F-1997) of MBK Bars Petropavlovsk (#5). Dyatlik showcased his all-around game by recording 15 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists in the last round. Despite Dyatlik's great performance the Bars lost 76-94 to the higher-ranked Shymkent (#2, 16-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Bars needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 11 victories and 5 lost games. Dyatlik has a very solid season. In 16 games in Kazakhstan he scored 11.6ppg. He also has 4.4rpg and a FGP of 62.7%.
