D1 newcomer Barsy Atyrau signed 23-year-old Latvian 173cm guard Katrina Trankale for the new season. It is her comeback to Atyrau as she has played here before. Trankale most recently played at SBK Liepaja/LSSS in Latvian LSBL. In four games, she averaged 11.3ppg, 5.0rpg, and 1.0apg last season. She also played 2 games in WBBL where she had 6.5ppg, 2.5rpg, and 1.5apg. Trankale briefly played for Athena-UMFK Reykjavik in the Subway League in Iceland, as well as for another Icelandic team, Keflavik.
Trankale was a member of the Latvian U20 National Team in 2021.
She has played in Iceland and Lithuania (Siauliai) as well.
Trankale won the WBBL championship title in 2023. She was voted to the Asia-Basket.com All-Kazakhstan League Honorable Mention in 2024.
