Kazakhstan Higher League round 2 best performance: Arsen Askaruly

Point guard Arsen Askaruly (186-PG-2007) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked BK Barsy Atyrau, receiving a Hoops Agents Higher League Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 18-year old player was the main contributor (20 points, eight rebounds and nine assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Oral (4-1) 79-68. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Barsy Atyrau maintains the 2nd position in Kazakhstan Higher League. They are still close to the very top. Barsy Atyrau would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 4-1 record. Askaruly turned to be Barsy Atyrau's top player in his first season with the team. Arsen Askaruly has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 18.2ppg. Askaruly is in league's top in rebounds (9th best: 6.4rpg), assists (3rd best: 4.8apg) and averages impressive 3.0spg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Beksultan Ukibay (197-C-2006) of MBK Kaspiy Aktau 2nd team. Ukibay had a very good evening with a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds. Of course Kaspiy-2 cruised to a 66-59 relatively comfortable win over AiRom (1-4). The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Ukibay is a newcomer at Kaspiy-2 and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Kaspiy-2's star - forward Timur Gorbach (197-F-2006). Gorbach scored 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of BK Caspiy Aktau, helping his team with a 66-59 win against #3 ranked AiRom in a game of the week. Gorbach has individually a great season in Kazakhstan. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 12.8ppg (7th best) and rebounds with 10.4rpg (#1 in league).

9. Muhammed Berikov (185-PG-2006) of AiRom - 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Beknur Les (194-F-2009) of Barsy 2 - 14 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
