D1 Round 15 (Regular Season): Okzhetpes beat Caspiy Aktau in the most crucial game of the week

The Regular Season in D1 is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 3 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

An exciting game was played in Aktau. Second ranked Okzhetpes faced 4th placed Caspiy Aktau. Guests from Kokshetay (13-6) defeated host Caspiy Aktau (9-11) 71-59. Okzhetpes dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Caspiy Aktau's 32. Okzhetpes looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Caspiy Aktau's players. The best player for the winners was Russian power forward Olga Aksenova (187-1996) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Russian swingman Kristina Goncharuk (175-2001, college: E.Florida St.) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Ukrainian Vladyslava Voloshina (177-2000, agency: BIG) who recorded 16 points and 4 assists. Okzhetpes have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-6 record having seven points less than leader Astana Tigers. Caspiy Aktau at the other side keeps the fourth position with 11 games lost. Okzhetpes are looking forward to face Irtysh (#5) in Pavlodar in the next round. Caspiy Aktau will have a break next round.

Daria Surkova contributed with 12 points for the winners. point guard Milana Alyoshkova (162-2002) answered with 14 points for Turan. Okzhetpes have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-6 record having seven points less than leader Astana Tigers. Turan lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the third position with eight games lost. Okzhetpes will play against Irtysh (#5) in Pavlodar in the next round. Turan will have a break next round.

Astana Tigers will meet at home bottom-ranked Aktobe (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Irtysh will play against the league's second-placed Okzhetpes in Kokshetay and hope to secure a win.
