D1 Round 14 (Regular Season): Okzhetpes defeat Turan in the closest game of the week

The most exciting game of round 14 in the D1 took place in Kokshetay. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Turan (11-7) to third ranked Okzhetpes (11-6) 55-53 in the game for the second place. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Okzhetpes looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Russian power forward Olga Aksenova (187-1996) scored 6 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Russian swingman Kristina Goncharuk (175-2001, college: E.Florida St.) chipped in 11 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals during the contest. The former international guard Oksana Bagmet (170-1996) responded with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Okzhetpes moved-up to second place. Defending champion Turan dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Okzhetpes are again looking forward to face Turan (#3) in Turkestan in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
