Vereshagin's double-double lands him Higher League Player of the Week award

32-year old forward Aleksei Vereshagin (200-F-1992) had an amazing evening in the last round for MBK Kazygurt Shymkent and receives a Hoops Agents Higher League Player of the Week award for round 6.
He had a double-double of 28 points and 21 rebounds, while his team beat ChelSU (3-2) 91-86. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Shymkent is placed at 3rd position in Kazakhstan Higher League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Shymkent will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. In the team's last game Vereshagin had a remarkable 69.2% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Shymkent, through which he has constantly improved. Vereshagin has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (7th best: 16.4ppg) and averages solid 2.6spg and 56.5% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Maksim Nalogov (198-F/C-1994) of top-ranked MBK Bars Petropavlovsk. He is a forward in his 12th season at Bars. In the last game Nalogov recorded an impressive double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds. It was enough for Bars to edge slightly lower-ranked Turan (#2, 4-1) by 5 points 76-71. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Bars consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. A very good start of the season for his team, which won so far all 6 games without any defeat. Nalogov is one of the most experienced players at Bars and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.5ppg (#4). His other stats are also decent: 9.5rpg and 4.2apg.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Askar Akhmetzhan (198-F-1998) of Astana Tigers-KazATU (#6). Akhmetzhan scored 28 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Tigers-KazATU, leading his team to a 55-48 win against Karaganda (#7, 0-5). Tigers-KazATU can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-4 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Akhmetzhan has individually a great season in Kazakhstan. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.0ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 11.0rpg (2nd best).
