Higher League Round 2 (Regular Season): Shymkent hands first defeat to Tigers-KazATU

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Tigers-KazATU in Astana on Wednesday night. Hosts were rolled over by Shymkent 85-64. Shymkent dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Tigers-KazATU's 22. They outrebounded Tigers-KazATU 55-38 including 21 on the offensive glass. Shymkent looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Tigers-KazATU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Artem Parfenov (198-1998) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds. Forward Aleksei Vereshagin (200-1992) chipped in 20 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Roman Baybolov (188-2006) produced 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Tigers-KazATU's coach Vladislav Gryzunkov gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Shymkent will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tigers-KazATU will play on the road against Turan in Turkistan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Karaganda supposed to be also worth to mention about. Bars played at the court of Karaganda. Bars smashed Karaganda 90-52. Power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-1994) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 5 rebounds. Artem Kozyrkin contributed with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Dias Katarbay (183-2001) replied with 16 points and 4 assists for Karaganda. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bars will play against Champ1on in Almaty in the next round where they are favorite. Karaganda will play on the road against ChelSU in Kostanay to get more than just one victory in their record.
The game in Almaty supposed to be also quite interesting. Turan played at the court of Champ1on. Turan smashed Champ1on 102-45 on Wednesday. Begzod Mammatrimov had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners. Bektimir Tau responded with 7 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Turan will meet at home Tigers-KazATU in the next round. Champ1on will play against Bars in Petropavlovsk and hope to win that game.





Karaganda - Bars 52-90

The game in Karaganda supposed to be also worth to mention about. Bars played at the court of Karaganda. Bars smashed Karaganda 90-52. Bars dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Karaganda's 24. They outrebounded Karaganda 46-27 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Bars players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Karaganda's players. Power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-1994) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Artem Kozyrkin (185-1998) contributed with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Four Bars players scored in double figures. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Champ1on's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Turan made 7 blocks. Power forward Begzod Mammatrimov (198-2004) had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and guard Alymzhan Maksutov (180-1994) chipped in 16 points, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest.
