D1 Round 1 (Regular Season): Turan lose to Astana Tigers

The Regular Season in D1 just started. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most important game of round 1 was a defeat of Turan. They were defeated by Astana Tigers 59-44 on Saturday night. Astana Tigers forced 22 Turan turnovers. Ukrainian power forward Ganna Rulyova (183-1986, agency: BIG) stepped up and scored 4 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international forward Zalina Kurazova (185-1985) chipped in 6 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side center Valeria Petrova (184-1996) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

The former international guard Oksana Bagmet (170-1996) came up with 8 points and 6 rebounds for Turan in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Aktobe recorded a loss at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by Caspiy Aktau 63-48. Tamar Papuashvili fired 17 points and 5 steals for the winners. Ulyana Kudrevtseva produced 17 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for lost side. Aktobe's coach Aleksandr Drankov rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Caspiy Aktau will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aktobe will play against Okzhetpes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 1: Turan destroyed Irtysh on the opponent's court 65-45. Irtysh lost to defending champion Turan in a home game 56-71. Caspiy Aktau recorded a loss to Aktobe on the road 59-61.

Very expected game in Pavlodar where Irtysh was crushed by Turan 65-45 on Tuesday. Turan held Irtysh to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Turan forced 24 Irtysh turnovers. Center Valeria Petrova (184-1996) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Oksana Bagmet (170-1996) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Five Turan players scored in double figures. Forward Kamilya Kaukanova (180-2003) produced 4 points and 17 rebounds and international Dilnaz Yerkebay (179-2003) added 6 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Point guard Milana Alyoshkova (162-2002) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Turan players scored in double figures. Turan's coach Vitaliy Lopatin used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. International Dilnaz Yerkebay (179-2003) produced 13 points and 8 rebounds and the former international forward Rauan Atambekova (182-1991) added 14 points respectively for lost side.
