Higher League Round 26 (Regular Season): Tigers-KazATU celebrate the title

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Shymkent (22-6) in Petropavlovsk on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Bars (17-9) 113-99. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Shymkent. Bars dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Shymkent's 50. They outrebounded Shymkent 51-35 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Bars looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. Power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-1994) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Sergey Dyatlik (194-1997) contributed with 6 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. point guard Anuar Shakirov (180-2000) replied with a triple-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 14 assists for Shymkent. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bars have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 17-9 record. Shymkent at the other side still keeps top place with six games lost.
Seventh-ranked Karaganda (4-21) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Turan (20-8). The visitors from Turkistan managed to secure only two-point victory 77-75. However their fans expected much easier game. Power forward Begzod Mammatrimov (198-2004) had a double-double by scoring 32 points and 21 rebounds (on 15-of-16 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Alymzhan Maksutov chipped in 27 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Turan's coach Yunus Irismetov allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Dias Katarbay (183-2001) responded with 29 points and 9 rebounds. Turan have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Newly promoted Turan maintains third position with 20-8 record having just two points less than leader Shymkent. Karaganda at the other side keeps the seventh place with 21 games lost.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Tigers-KazATU (20-5) against sixth ranked ChelSU (9-18) on Wednesday night. Host Tigers-KazATU was defeated by ChelSU in a tough game in Astana 80-86. Vasiliy Belozor notched 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort. Even a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds by Eset Zharkylov did not help to save the game for Tigers-KazATU. Tigers-KazATU's coach Vladislav Gryzunkov rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. ChelSU moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Tigers-KazATU keeps the second position with five games lost.




Bars - Shymkent 113-99

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Tigers-KazATU (20-5) against sixth ranked ChelSU (9-18) on Wednesday night. Host Tigers-KazATU was defeated by ChelSU in a tough game in Astana 80-86. ChelSU forced 22 Tigers-KazATU turnovers. Strangely Tigers-KazATU outrebounded ChelSU 47-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. Guard Vasiliy Belozor (186-2001) notched 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and point guard Maxim Zhukov (173-2001) supported him with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds by swingman Eset Zharkylov (195-1998) did not help to save the game for Tigers-KazATU. Forward Alexey Alyonushka (190-1995) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
