Higher League Round 22 (Regular Season): Tigers-KazATU keep a leadership position

The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 4 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Tigers-KazATU as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Tigers-KazATU defeated 6th ranked ChelSU in Astana 84-75. Tigers-KazATU dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to ChelSU's 36. Forward Alexey Alyonushka (190-1995) scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws) to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Eset Zharkylov (195-1998) chipped in 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. Tigers-KazATU's coach Vladislav Gryzunkov used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side point guard Maxim Zhukov (173-2001) responded with 25 points and 6 rebounds. Tigers-KazATU have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. ChelSU lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 17 games lost. ChelSU will play next round against Karaganda trying to get back on the winning streak. Tigers-KazATU will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Barsy 2 in Atyrau.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Petropavlovsk. 4th ranked host Bars (14-8) lost to second ranked Shymkent (19-5) 79-74. Forward Aleksei Vereshagin (200-1992) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Anuar Shakirov supported him with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Even a double-double of 27 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists by power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-1994) did not help to save the game for Bars. Bars' coach Mikhail Dedov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shymkent maintains second position with 19-5 record having just three point less than leader Tigers-KazATU. Bars at the other side keep the fourth place with eight games lost. Shymkent will play against bottom-ranked Altay (#8) in Oskemen in the next round where they are favorite. Bars will play on the road against Turan (#3) in Turkistan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Karaganda was also quite interesting. Third ranked Turan (16-8) played at the court of 7th ranked Karaganda (3-19). Turan defeated Karaganda 77-66 on Saturday. Begzod Mammatrimov fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 23 rebounds for the winners. Turan's coach Yunus Irismetov used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Dias Katarbay produced 17 points and 4 assists for lost side. Turan have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Turan maintains third position with 16-8 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Tigers-KazATU. Karaganda lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 19 games lost. Turan will meet at home Bars (#4) in the next round. Karaganda will play against ChelSU in Kostanay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.




Bars - Shymkent 74-79
