Higher League Round 19 (Regular Season): Tigers-KazATU lose to Bars

Round in Higher League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Petropavlovsk where host Bars (13-5) beat league's leader Tigers-KazATU (15-2) 77-68 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Tigers-KazATU. They outrebounded Tigers-KazATU 38-26 including 32 on the defensive glass. Bars looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-1994) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Sergey Dyatlik (194-1997) chipped in 15 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Swingman Temirlan Dzhunusov (192-1999) produced 26 points and 5 steals for lost side. Bars have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place with 13-5 record having five points less than leader Shymkent. Newly promoted Tigers-KazATU dropped to the second position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Shymkent.
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Shymkent as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Shymkent defeated 5th ranked Barsy 2 at home 75-66. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Aleksei Vereshagin (200-1992) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds. Anuar Shakirov contributed with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Forward Aibolat Omarov (197-2006) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds for Barsy 2. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Shymkent. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Barsy 2 at the other side keeps the fifth place with 13 games lost. Barsy 2 will play next round against ChelSU trying to get back on the winning streak. Shymkent will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Turan at Turkistan.
The game in Karaganda supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Bars (13-5) played at the court of 7th ranked Karaganda (3-15). Bars smashed Karaganda 93-60 on Monday. It was a great evening for Maksim Nalogov who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Bars' coach Mikhail Dedov felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Konstantin Teryukov responded with 27 points and 4 assists. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Bars. They maintain third place with 13-5 record having five points less than leader Shymkent. Karaganda lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 15 games lost.

In the last game of round 19 ChelSU was defeated by Turan in Turkistan 79-61.

Karaganda - Bars 60-93

The game in Karaganda supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Bars (13-5) played at the court of 7th ranked Karaganda (3-15). Bars smashed Karaganda 93-60 on Monday. Bars outrebounded Karaganda 39-22 including 27 on the defensive glass. Bars shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Karaganda's players. It was a great evening for power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-1994) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Turan - ChelSU 79-61

There was no surprise in Turkistan where 6th ranked ChelSU (6-13) was defeated by fourth ranked Turan (12-8) 79-61 on Friday. Turan forced 27 ChelSU turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for power forward Begzod Mammatrimov (198-2004) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Sirazhiddin Erkinbayev (183-2005) helped adding 12 points and 6 assists. Four Turan players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Vasiliy Belozor (186-2001) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and Uzbekistani guard Kambar Zholdybayev (188-2005) scored 18 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Turan maintains fourth place with 12-8 record. ChelSU lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Turan will meet at home league's leader Shymkent in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. ChelSU will play against Barsy 2 (#5) in Atyrau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
