Smith's 28 points and 9 assists give him Player of the Week award

31-year old American point guard Shakir Smith (185-PG-1992) had a very impressive game in the last round for Aktobe and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 20.
He had the game-high 28 points adding seven rebounds and nine assists for Aktobe in his team's victory, helping them to beat Astana Ac. (#5, 10-10) 87-82. Aktobe maintains the 4th position in Kazakhstan league. Aktobe is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 11-9 record. Smith turned to be Aktobe's top player in his first season with the team. Adams State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Smith is in league's top in points (7th best: 16.7ppg), assists (3rd best: 5.6apg) and averages solid 2.4spg.

Second best performed player last round was Igor Kanygin (207-C-1994, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) of BK Astana. He is Russian center in his second season at Astana Ac.. In the last game Kanygin recorded an impressive double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as Astana lost that game 82-87 to slightly higher-ranked Aktobe (#4, 11-9). Astana managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 10-10 record is not bad and everything may still change. Kanygin is well-known at Astana and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders.

Third place about best performers goes to another Aktobe's star - forward Sergei Bormatenkov (191-F-1991). Bormatenkov showcased his all-around game by recording 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. He was another key player of Aktobe, helping his team with a 82-70 win against slightly lower-ranked Astana Ac. (#5, 10-10). Aktobe needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 11 victories and 9 lost games. Bormatenkov has a very solid season. In 20 games in Kazakhstan he scored 7.2ppg. He also has 6.2rpg, 3.1apg, 2.9spg and a FGP of 68.5%.
