23-year old point guard Anuar Shakirov (180-PG-2000) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked MBK Kazygurt Shymkent and receives a Hoops Agents Higher League Player of the Week award for round 16.
He had the game-high 34 points adding nine rebounds and four assists for Shymkent in his team's victory, helping them to crush Turan (#4, 10-7) with 17-point margin 88-71. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Shymkent maintains the 2nd position in Kazakhstan Higher League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Shymkent will need more victories to improve their 13-4 record. In the team's last game Shakirov had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 10 attempts. He has many years of experience at Shymkent, through which he has constantly improved. Shakirov has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 24.0ppg), assists (5th best: 5.9apg) and averages solid 51.2% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Aleksei Vereshagin (200-F-1992). He is a forward in his 7th season at Shymkent. In the last game Vereshagin recorded an impressive double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds. Of course together with Shakirov he helped MBK Kazygurt Shymkent with another comfortable win 88-71 over slightly lower-ranked Turan (#4, 10-7) being unquestionably team leader. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Shymkent consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. His team's 13-4 record is not bad at all. Vereshagin is one of the most experienced players at Shymkent and similarly like Anuar Shakirov has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.8ppg (#5). He also registered 9.8 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Adil Kuantaev (185-G-2005) of BK Barsy Atyrau 2nd team (#6). Kuantaev showcased his all-around game by recording 5 points, 20 rebounds (!!!) and 8 assists in the last round. Despite Kuantaev's great performance the Barsy 2 lost 63-66 to slightly higher-ranked ChelSU (#5, 6-10). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Barsy 2 not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 11 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Kuantaev could try to bring Barsy 2's a little bit higher in the standings. Kuantaev has individually a great season in Kazakhstan. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.0rpg (2nd best). He also has 1.8bpg and a FGP of 72.2%.
