Higher League Round 13 (Regular Season): ChelSU hands first loss to Tigers-KazATU

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Higher League. Coincidentally all visitors won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was the first loss of Tigers-KazATU (14-1) in Astana on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked ChelSU (5-9) 82-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tigers-KazATU. ChelSU looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Dmitriy Luchko (193-1997) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Vasiliy Belozor (186-2001) contributed with 20 points and 8 assists for the winners. point guard Ismail Bimendin (180-1992) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists for Tigers-KazATU. ChelSU maintains fifth place with 5-9 record. Newly promoted Tigers-KazATU still keeps top position with one game lost. ChelSU are looking forward to face higher ranked Bars (#4) in Petropavlovsk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tigers-KazATU will play on the road against the league's second-placed Shymkent and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another interesting game for Shymkent (11-4) which played in Petropavlovsk against Bars (10-5). Second ranked Shymkent won 81-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bars. Guard Victor Yuldashev (190-2002) stepped up and scored 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Aleksei Vereshagin chipped in 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-1994) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Shymkent maintains second place with 11-4 record having just three points less than leader Tigers-KazATU. Bars at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. They share it with Turan. Shymkent will play against league's leader Tigers-KazATU in Astana in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bars will play on the road against ChelSU in Kostanay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Alisher Muratuly nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. Vladislav Baturin came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks for Altay in the defeat. Barsy 2 maintains sixth place with 5-10 record. Altay lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Barsy 2 will meet at home Karaganda (#7) in the next round. Altay will play against Turan in Turkistan and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 13 Turan smashed Karaganda on the road 88-59.




Altay - Barsy 2 67-74

The game in Oskemen was also quite interesting. Sixth ranked Barsy 2 (5-10) played at the court of 8th ranked Altay (1-13). Barsy 2 managed to secure a 7-point victory 74-67 on Wednesday. Barsy 2 forced 20 Altay turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Alisher Muratuly (175-2007) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winning side and guard Adil Kuantaev (185-2005) accounted for 15 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Barsy 2 players scored in double figures. Forward Vladislav Baturin (188-1995) came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks and guard Aleksei Kurochka (180-1994) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists respectively for Altay in the defeat. Shymkent had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists. Karaganda - Turan 59-88

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Turan (10-5) crushed on the road 7th ranked Karaganda (3-12) 88-59 on Wednesday. Turan dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Karaganda's 16. They outrebounded Karaganda 49-30 including a 38-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Turan looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Karaganda's players. Power forward Begzod Mammatrimov (198-2004) nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points and 19 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winning side and guard Alymzhan Maksutov (180-1994) accounted for 24 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Turan's coach Yunus Irismetov felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Konstantin Teryukov (181-2000) came up with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Askar Esentaev (197-1998) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Karaganda in the defeat. Newly promoted Turan maintains third place with 10-5 record having four points less than leader Tigers-KazATU, which they share with Bars. Loser Karaganda keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. Turan will meet at home bottom-ranked Altay (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Karaganda will play against Barsy 2 in Atyrau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
