D1 Round 6 (Regular Season): Aktobe lose their first game against Caspiy Aktau

Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most surprising game was the first loss of Aktobe (5-1) at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Caspiy Aktau (2-4) 89-82. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Aktobe. Caspiy Aktau forced 29 Aktobe turnovers. Strangely Aktobe outrebounded Caspiy Aktau 47-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Aktobe helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Japanese point guard Mone Izumi (162-1998, college: GBC) had a double-double by scoring 32 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Russian forward Elizaveta Galynina (182-2003) chipped in 25 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Emily Lytle (180-1997, college: Virginia Tech) with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Aktobe's coach Ilya Rodionov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Caspiy Aktau moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Okzhetpes. Aktobe at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Astana Tigers and Turan. Caspiy Aktau is looking forward to face Barsy Atyrau (#7) on the road in the next round. Aktobe will play against Turan (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Almaty supposed to be also worth to mention about. One of their biggest challengers Okzhetpes (2-4) played at the court of fifth ranked Tomiris (3-3). Tomiris smashed Okzhetpes 81-53. Ukrainian Elizaveta Mitina (171-1998) notched 32 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) to lead the effort and Yana Kotova supported her with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Even 13 points and 7 rebounds by Russian swingman Daria Surkova (176-2001) did not help to save the game for Okzhetpes. Okzhetpes' coach Boris Fatkulin gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Tomiris moved-up to fourth place. Okzhetpes at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Caspiy Aktau. Tomiris will play against league's second-placed Astana Tigers at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Okzhetpes will play against Irtysh in Pavlodar and hope to get back on the winning track.

The best player for the winners was Anna Bezgodova who scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Astana Tigers' coach Vitaliy Strebkov felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Valeriya Kapitonova who recorded 10 points and 8 rebounds. Astana Tigers have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Aktobe and Turan. Loser Irtysh dropped to the bottom place with five games lost. They share the position with Barsy Atyrau. Astana Tigers will meet Tomiris (#4) in the next round. Irtysh will play against Okzhetpes (#5) and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 6 Barsy Atyrau was destroyed by Turan Turkestan on the opponent's court 85-63.

Rather expected game in Turkestan where 6th ranked Barsy Atyrau (1-5) was crushed by third ranked Turan (5-1) 85-63 on Wednesday. Turan dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Barsy Atyrau's 32 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Turan forced 30 Barsy Atyrau turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was Armenian guard Inga Manucharyan (177-2000) who scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. Ukrainian power forward Ganna Rulyova (183-1986, agency: BIG) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Turan's coach Vitaliy Lopatin felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
