D1 Round 1 (Regular Season): Turan keep a leadership position

The Regular Season in D1 just started. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

Turan defeated Okzhetpes in Turkestan 67-58. Ukrainian power forward Ganna Rulyova (183-1986, agency: BIG) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Armenian guard Inga Manucharyan (177-2000) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Russian center Alexandra Kuzmitskaya (193-2002) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Okzhetpes will play next round against Barsy Atyrau trying to get back on the winning streak. Turan will try to continue on its current victory against Tomiris in Almaty.
Caspiy Aktau recorded a loss at the home court. Hosts were rolled over by Tomiris 86-66. Worth to mention a great performance of Russian guard Victoria Mazur (164-1992) who helped to win the game recording 40 points (!!!). Yana Kotova contributed with 16 points and 21 rebounds for the winners. International center Anastasiya Ilyasova (185-1998) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for Caspiy Aktau. Tomiris will play against Turan in Turkestan in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Caspiy Aktau will play on the road against Irtysh in Pavlodar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game where Astana Tigers beat host Barsy Atyrau with 15-point difference 71-56 on Tuesday evening. Tamara Kuzmina-Yagodkina stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. At the losing side Randi Brown responded with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Astana Tigers will meet at home Aktobe in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Barsy Atyrau will play against Okzhetpes in Kokshetay and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 1 winless Irtysh lost to undefeated Aktobe in a road game 51-74.

Caspiy Aktau recorded a loss at the home court. Hosts were rolled over by Tomiris 86-66. Tomiris dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Caspiy Aktau's 26. Tomiris forced 22 Caspiy Aktau turnovers and outrebounded them 45-28 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Russian guard Victoria Mazur (164-1992) who helped to win the game recording 40 points (!!!). Russian forward Yana Kotova (185-1988, agency: TPA) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 21 rebounds for the winners. International center Anastasiya Ilyasova (185-1998) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and Russian forward Elizaveta Galynina (182-2003) added 15 points and 6 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) in the effort for Caspiy Aktau. Tomiris will play against Turan in Turkestan in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aktobe used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Pavlodar 74-51 on Tuesday night. Aktobe forced 20 Irtysh turnovers and outrebounded them 44-28 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Emily Lytle (180-1997, college: Virginia Tech) stepped up and scored 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Russian power forward Olga Aksenova (187-1996) chipped in 6 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side the former international forward Valeriya Kapitonova (176-2001) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Tamila Zhakipova (182-2000) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aktobe will meet Astana Tigers on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Irtysh will play against Caspiy Aktau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
