Higher League Round 3 (Regular Season): Tigers-KazATU hand first defeat to Turan

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Turan (2-1) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were rolled over by Tigers-KazATU (3-0) 78-47. Tigers-KazATU dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Turan's 24. They outrebounded Turan 50-24 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Alexey Alyonushka (190-1995) who scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Ruslanbek Marat (201-2005) chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Kazybek Serikbay (188-2003) who recorded 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tigers-KazATU are looking forward to face ChelSU (#7) in Kostanay in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Turan will play on the road against Karaganda (#8) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Another exciting game was played in Atyrau between Bars and Barsy 2 where Bars (2-1) crushed Barsy 2 (1-2) on the road with 23-point difference 76-53. It was a good game for forward Stanislav Rovovoy (198-1992) who led his team to a victory with 27 points. Sergey Dyatlik contributed with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Guard Bolatbek Baktygali (185-2006) answered with 18 points for Barsy 2. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bars will play against Shymkent (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Barsy 2 will play against Altay in Oskemen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 3 Altay defeated ChelSU in Oskemen 84-80. Shymkent beat Karaganda at home 78-69.




Barsy 2 - Bars 53-76

Another exciting game was played in Atyrau between Bars and Barsy 2 where Bars (2-1) crushed Barsy 2 (1-2) on the road with 23-point difference 76-53. Bars dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Barsy 2's 26. They outrebounded Barsy 2 36-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for forward Stanislav Rovovoy (198-1992) who led his team to a victory with 27 points. Forward Sergey Dyatlik (194-1997) contributed with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Bars players scored in double figures. Guard Bolatbek Baktygali (185-2006) answered with 18 points and forward Abat Marat (180-2005) added 10 points in the effort for Barsy 2. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bars will play against Shymkent (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Barsy 2 will play against Altay in Oskemen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

ChelSU - Altay 80-84

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Kostanay where ChelSU (1-2) was defeated by Altay (1-2) 84-80. It was a good game for swingman Sergey Kononov (193-2006) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Vladislav Baturin (188-1995) contributed with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Guard Arsen Mzikyan (190-2006) answered with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Vasiliy Belozor (186-2001) added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for ChelSU. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ChelSU's coach Alexander Derbush rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Altay will play against Barsy 2 (#6) in Atyrau in the next round. ChelSU will play on the road against Tigers-KazATU in Astana to get more than just one victory in their record.

No shocking result in a game when Shymkent (2-1) defeated at home Karaganda (0-3) 78-69. Shymkent had a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Swingman Medeu Aukesh (195-2005) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds and Dias Katarbay (183-2001) added 20 points in the effort for Karaganda. Four Karaganda players scored in double figures. Shymkent will play against Bars (#4) in Petropavlovsk in the next round. Karaganda will play against Turan (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
