Aktobe (D1) has added 29-year-old Russian center Aleksandra Varaksina (190cm-83kg-1993) to their roster for the 2023-24 season. Varaksina is the second foreign player on the team, with Emily Lytle from the USA signing earlier. Varaksina is not new to the Kazakhstan League, as she was the top rebounder at Tomiris last season. In 12 games in Kazakhstan, she averaged 8.1ppg, 11.7rpg, 1.8apg, and 1.8spg. In the previous season (2021-22), she played for Okzhetpes, another Kazakhstan team. She has also played for Platov Novocherkassk in Russia's Superleague 1.
Six years ago, she represented Russia at the World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan. Her team managed to reach the Semifinals, and her individual performance during the event included playing five games with an average of 2.0 points per game and 3.2 rpg.
She has played previously for four other Russian teams: Dynamo Novosibirsk Region, Dynamo Moscow, Enisey, and Dynamo Novosibirsk Region Second Team.
