Higher League Round 24: Top-ranked Shymkent wins another game

The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Higher League top team - Shymkent (26-1) added another victory to their record on Monday. This time they beat fifth ranked Irtysh (13-14) in Pavlodar 88-82. Shymkent made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game, while Irtysh only scored six points from the stripe. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. It was a good game for point guard Anuar Shakirov (180-2000) who led his team to a victory with 29 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Alymzhan Maksutov (180-1994) contributed with 19 points and 9 assists for the winners. Guard Dias Arykov (194-1999) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for Irtysh. Shymkent have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 26-1 record. Irtysh lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 14 games lost. Shymkent are looking forward to face Tigers-KazATU (#6) in Astana in the next round where they are favorite. Irtysh will play on the road against Altay in Oskemen and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.

They maintain first position with 26-1 record. Aktobe 2 lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh place with 22 games lost. Shymkent will play against Tigers-KazATU (#6) in Astana in the next round where they are favorite. Aktobe 2 will play at home against Karaganda (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

The winners were led by Temirlan Dzhunusov who scored that evening 19 points and 5 assists. Even 12 points and 4 assists by Sergey Ivanov did not help to save the game for Altay. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Tigers-KazATU maintains sixth position with 12-15 record. Altay lost fifth consecutive game. Altay at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay dead last with 24 lost games. Tigers-KazATU will meet at home league's leader Shymkent in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Altay will play against Irtysh (#5) and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 24: Tigers-KazATU smashed Aktobe 2 on the road 80-61. Karaganda destroyed Altay on its own court 95-51. Irtysh unfortunately lost to Karaganda in a road game 66-81.
The most impressive performance of 24th round was 19 points and 5 rebounds by Medeu Aukesh of Karaganda.

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Tigers-KazATU (12-15) crushed on the road 11th ranked Aktobe 2 (5-22) 80-61 on Monday. Tigers-KazATU forced 27 Aktobe 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 47-36 including 21 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by center Rustam Lukmanov (197-1999) who scored that evening 15 points and 4 assists and swingman Dinislam Abilseytuly (193-2003) supported him with 6 points and 11 rebounds. Tigers-KazATU's coach Mikhail Nohai let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Yegor Samoilov (186-2006) did not help to save the game for Aktobe 2. Guard Baynazar Omarov (185-2004) added 8 points and 10 rebounds.
