Karaganda - Altay 84-66 No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Karaganda (14-7) beat at home bottom-ranked Altay (2-19) 84-66 on Wednesday. Karaganda forced 20 Altay turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for forward Alexey Alyonushka (190-1995) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. Dias Katarbay (183-2001) accounted for 25 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Forward Alexander Antropov (195-1993) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Stanislav Gorbenko (189-1999) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Altay in the defeat. Four Altay players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Karaganda moved-up to third place. Altay lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 19 lost games. Karaganda will meet Aktobe 2 (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Altay will play against Irtysh and hope to secure a win. It was an exceptional evening for center Rustam Lukmanov (197-1999) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Dastan Kaldybaev (180-2001) accounted for 12 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Tigers-KazATU's coach Mikhail Nohai used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Baynazar Omarov (185-2004) came up with 19 points and 8 rebounds and guard Kairat Utegen (189-2004) added 17 points respectively for Aktobe 2 in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Tigers-KazATU. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Irtysh. Aktobe 2 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eleventh position with 17 games lost. It was a great evening for forward Aleksei Vereshagin (200-1992) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Zhalgasbek Kadyr (180-1997) helped adding 7 points, 12 rebounds and 14 assists. Four Shymkent players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shymkent have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 20-1 record. Irtysh lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Tigers-KazATU. Karaganda dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Irtysh's 30 and made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Karaganda forced 20 Irtysh turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists. It was an exceptional evening for forward Alexey Alyonushka (190-1995) who led the winners and scored 28 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (made all of his thirteen free throws !!!). Guard Konstantin Teryukov (181-2000) accounted for 21 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. Four Karaganda players scored in double figures. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Alexander Antropov (195-1993) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Vladislav Baturin (188-1995) contributed with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners.
