Higher League Round 12: Bars hand first loss to Shymkent

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Shymkent (11-1) in Petropavlovsk on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Bars (11-1) 83-71. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Shymkent. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Bars dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Shymkent's 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-1994) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Artem Parfenov (196-1998) contributed with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Balabiy Agabek (190-1996) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists for Shymkent. Bars have an impressive six-game winning streak. They used an opportunity after Shymkent lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position which they share with defeated Shymkent.
Another interesting game for Irtysh (6-6) which played in Nur-Sultan against Gotobeles (5-7). Sixth ranked Irtysh won 79-71. Worth to mention a great performance of Vadim Bagrov (187-2000) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and Pavel Bruhovets who added 13 points and 6 assists during the contest. Irtysh's coach Zhuldys Baydusenova allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was swingman Eset Zharkylov (195-1998) with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 22 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks. Irtysh moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Gotobeles keep the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Caspiy Aktau and Tigers-KazATU.
Bottom-ranked Altay is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 12th consecutive match to tenth ranked Barsy 2 (4-8) 82-41 on Sunday evening. The winners were led by Begzod Mammatrimov who had that evening a triple-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 10 steals. Even 13 points and 4 assists by Sergey Ivanov did not help to save the game for Altay. Altay's coach Sergey Boriseev gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Barsy 2 moved-up to ninth place, which they share with ChelSU. Newly promoted Altay still closes the standings with 12 games lost.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 12: Almaty L. smashed Aktobe 2 on the road 88-54. Caspiy Aktau was destroyed by Karaganda on its own court 45-73. Tigers-KazATU outscored ChelSU in Astana 90-55.

Gotobeles - Irtysh 71-79

Another interesting game for Irtysh (6-6) which played in Nur-Sultan against Gotobeles (5-7). Sixth ranked Irtysh won 79-71. Irtysh forced 20 Gotobeles turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Vadim Bagrov (187-2000) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and guard Pavel Bruhovets (174-2001) who added 13 points and 6 assists during the contest.
