Higher League Round 11: Bars beat Karaganda in the most crucial game of the week

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Karaganda. Second ranked Bars faced 4th placed Karaganda. Guests from Petropavlovsk (11-1) defeated host Karaganda (7-4) 67-50. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Karaganda. They outrebounded Karaganda 49-36 including 38 on the defensive glass. Bars looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Forward Artem Parfenov (196-1998) chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. Bars' coach Nikolay Kurkin used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Alexey Alyonushka (190-1995) produced 23 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Bars have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Shymkent. Karaganda at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Bars is looking forward to face league's leader Shymkent at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Karaganda will play against Caspiy Aktau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Leader Shymkent delivered the eleventh victory. This time they beat 10th ranked Barsy 2 (3-8) 77-63. Guard Victor Yuldashev (190-2002) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 6 rebounds. Anuar Shakirov contributed with 13 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Forward Begzod Mammatrimov (198-2004) answered with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocks for Barsy 2. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Shymkent. They maintain first place with 11-1 record, which they share with Bars. Barsy 2 lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with eight games lost. Shymkent will play against league's second-placed Bars in Petropavlovsk in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Barsy 2 will play at home against Altay (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Altay (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 99-41 loss to eleventh ranked ChelSU (4-7) in Oskemen on Saturday evening. Altay at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 11 games lost. ChelSU will meet at home Tigers-KazATU (#8) in the next round. Altay will play against Barsy 2 (#10) in Atyrau and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Altay - ChelSU 41-99

Bottom-ranked Altay (0-11) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 99-41 loss to eleventh ranked ChelSU (4-7) in Oskemen on Saturday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Altay's 32. ChelSU forced 36 Altay turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Altay's players. It was a great evening for guard Artem Pedko (191-2000) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Point guard Aleksey Bogatyrev (177-1991) helped adding 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four ChelSU players scored in double figures. There was no surprise when 11th ranked Aktobe 2 (3-9) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Gotobeles (5-7) 77-66 on Saturday. Gotobeles outrebounded Aktobe 2 48-26 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gotobeles made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for swingman Eset Zharkylov (195-1998) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 23 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Maxim Khmelnitsky (188-2000) helped adding 15 points and 16 rebounds. Four Gotobeles players scored in double figures. Guard Baynazar Omarov (185-2004) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Bibarys Aytkulov (177-2005) scored 11 points and 8 assists. Aktobe 2's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Gotobeles went down to seventh position due to points difference. Aktobe 2 lost their fifth game in a row. Aktobe 2 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eleventh place with nine games lost. Gotobeles will meet at home higher ranked Irtysh (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aktobe 2 will play against Almaty L. (#3) and hope to secure a win.
