Higher League Round 4: Bars keep a leadership position- October 24, 2022
There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Higher League. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
ChelSU - Shymkent 56-88 Very expected game in Kostanay where 10th ranked ChelSU (2-3) was crushed by top-ranked Shymkent (5-0) 88-56 on Sunday. Shymkent looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by ChelSU's players. Point guard Anuar Shakirov (180-2000) fired 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Guard Victor Yuldashev (190-2002) chipped in 17 points. Four Shymkent players scored in double figures. Guard Artem Pedko (191-2000) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and guard Arsen Mzikyan (190-2006) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. ChelSU's coach Alexander Derbush already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Shymkent have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Bars. ChelSU lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Shymkent will meet at home bottom-ranked Barsy 2 (#12) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. ChelSU will play against Altay (#11) in Oskemen and hope to secure a win. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to fourth ranked Karaganda (3-2) 77-61. Karaganda dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Barsy 2's 26. Karaganda forced 24 Barsy 2 turnovers. The winners were led by forward Alexey Alyonushka (190-1995) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds and guard Dias Zhambeisov (185-2001) supported him with 11 points. Karaganda's coach Alexander Tyutyunik allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds by guard Sabyrzhan Ibragimov (185-2004) did not help to save the game for Barsy 2. Forward Aibolat Mussagali (197-2006) added 6 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Karaganda maintains fourth position with 3-2 record. Barsy 2 at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Altay. Karaganda will play against league's leader Bars in Petropavlovsk in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Irtysh's coach Zhuldys Baydusenova gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Bars (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Shymkent. Irtysh at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with Caspiy Aktau. Irtysh will play next round against Caspiy Aktau trying to get back on the winning streak. Bars will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Karaganda on the road. Gotobeles outrebounded Tigers-KazATU 53-25 including a 38-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Swingman Eset Zharkylov (195-1998) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points, 25 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Swingman Daulet Bekbauov (191-1999) chipped in a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds. Despite that victory Gotobeles went down to seventh position due to points difference, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Tigers-KazATU. Gotobeles will meet Aktobe 2 (#9) on the road in the next round. Tigers-KazATU will play against Almaty L. and hope to secure a win.
