Higher League Round 4: Bars keep a leadership position

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Higher League. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Bars as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Bars smashed 6th ranked Irtysh in Petropavlovsk 94-51. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Irtysh. Bars dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Irtysh's 30. Bars forced 19 Irtysh turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Irtysh's players. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-1994) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Sergey Dyatlik (194-1997) who added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side guard Ali Isagulov (186-2004) responded with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Irtysh's coach Zhuldys Baydusenova gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Undefeated Bars (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Shymkent. Irtysh at the other side dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. They share the position with Caspiy Aktau. Irtysh will play next round against Caspiy Aktau trying to get back on the winning streak. Bars will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Karaganda on the road.
Bottom-ranked Barsy 2 (0-5) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to fourth ranked Karaganda (3-2) 77-61. The winners were led by forward Alexey Alyonushka (190-1995) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds and Dias Zhambeisov supported him with 11 points. Karaganda's coach Alexander Tyutyunik allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds by guard Sabyrzhan Ibragimov (185-2004) did not help to save the game for Barsy 2. Karaganda maintains fourth position with 3-2 record. Barsy 2 at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Altay. Karaganda will play against league's leader Bars in Petropavlovsk in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Barsy 2 will play on the road against the league's second-placed Shymkent (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Bottom-ranked Altay (0-5) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to third ranked Almaty L. (4-1) 127-43 on Sunday evening. Newly promoted Almaty L. maintains third position with 4-1 record behind leader Bars. Altay at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Barsy 2. Almaty L. will meet Tigers-KazATU (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Altay will play against ChelSU and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 4: Shymkent destroyed ChelSU on the opponent's court 88-56. Aktobe 2 unfortunately lost to Caspiy Aktau in a home game 53-58. Tigers-KazATU was rolled over Gotobeles on the road 76-99.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 15 points, 25 rebounds and 4 assists by Eset Zharkylov of Gotobeles.

ChelSU - Shymkent 56-88

Very expected game in Kostanay where 10th ranked ChelSU (2-3) was crushed by top-ranked Shymkent (5-0) 88-56 on Sunday. Shymkent looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by ChelSU's players. Point guard Anuar Shakirov (180-2000) fired 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Guard Victor Yuldashev (190-2002) chipped in 17 points. Four Shymkent players scored in double figures. Guard Artem Pedko (191-2000) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and guard Arsen Mzikyan (190-2006) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. ChelSU's coach Alexander Derbush already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Shymkent have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Bars. ChelSU lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Shymkent will meet at home bottom-ranked Barsy 2 (#12) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. ChelSU will play against Altay (#11) in Oskemen and hope to secure a win.

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Caspiy Aktau (2-2) defeated on the road 10th ranked Aktobe 2 (2-3) 58-53 on Sunday. Caspiy Aktau forced 26 Aktobe 2 turnovers. Swingman Damir Nursiitov (195-2002) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Dmitry Denisov (194-2005) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Caspiy Aktau's coach Evgeny Gorev used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Baynazar Omarov (185-2004) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and guard Chingiz Doskeev (185-2005) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Caspiy Aktau moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Irtysh. Newly promoted Aktobe 2 dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Caspiy Aktau will meet Irtysh (#6) in the next round. Aktobe 2 will play against Gotobeles and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Swingman Daulet Bekbauov (191-1999) chipped in a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds. Despite that victory Gotobeles went down to seventh position due to points difference, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Tigers-KazATU. Gotobeles will meet Aktobe 2 (#9) on the road in the next round. Tigers-KazATU will play against Almaty L. and hope to secure a win.
