Valerii Likhodey (ex Parma) is a newcomer at Astana

BK Astana (National League) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 35-year old Russian ex-international 204cm power forward Valerii Likhodey for season 2022-23. Likhodey played most recently at Parma in Russian VTB league. He managed to play in three leagues last year (!!!). In three FIBA Europe Cup games he recorded 12.7ppg and 2.7rpg. Likhodey also played 13 games in VTB United League where he averaged 12.5ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.2apg and 1.1spg. The other team he played that season for was Ufimets Ufa (Superleague 1) in Russian league. In 14 games he had 14.3ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.6apg. A very spectacular season in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Russian Superleague 1 Honorable Mention.
He was also a member of Russian international program for some years. Likhodey played for Russian Senior National Team between 2013 and 2014 and previously for University National Team back in 2000.
He also represented Russia at the Qualifications to European Championships (FIBA EuroBasket) 2015 eight years ago.
Likhodey is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Italy (Cd'Orlando), Lithuania (Nevezis), Poland (Anwil and Legia) and Russia (CSKA Moscow, Spartak Sankt Petersburg, Krasnie Krilya, Unics and Khimki). Likhodey played in the final of VTB United League in 2013, 2016 and 2017.
He is close to retirement age as a player. It may be one of last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Astana.
