Higher League Round 15: No surprise as #1 Qazaqstan defeat Irtysh

Higher League top team - Qazaqstan (14-2) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Irtysh (7-9) in Pavlodar 85-64. Qazaqstan dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Irtysh's 28. Qazaqstan forced 19 Irtysh turnovers and outrebounded them 47-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for swingman Temirlan Dzhunusov (192-99) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points. Forward Adil Narimanov (196-1) helped adding 10 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Nikita Gushchin (192-91) with 10 points and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Qazaqstan have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. Newly promoted Qazaqstan maintains first place with 14-2 record. Irtysh lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with nine games lost. Qazaqstan are looking forward to face Barsy 2 (#4) in Atyrau in the next round. Irtysh will play on the road against Bars in Petropavlovsk and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
Second ranked Kazygurt (13-1) crushed at home 10th ranked Astana-2 (1-14) by 51 points 95-44, which is the biggest margin this round. It was a quality performance for swingman Teodor Gergert (196-99) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Alymzhan Maksutov accounted for 20 points and 5 assists. The former international guard Andrey Litvinenko (191-97) came up with 19 points for Astana-2 in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Kazygurt. They maintain second place with 13-1 record behind leader Qazaqstan. Astana-2 lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Kazygurt will play against Karaganda (#5) on the road in the next round. Astana-2 will have a break next round.

In the last two games of round 15 Jambyl was destroyed by Barsy 2 on the opponent's court 107-77. Karaganda outscored Namys in a home game 84-61.

Rather expected game in Atyrau where 7th ranked Jambyl (4-11) was crushed by fourth ranked Barsy 2 (11-5) 107-77. Barsy 2 forced 30 Jambyl turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Bogdan Rabchenyuk (186-3) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Begzod Mammatrimov accounted for 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Berik Zulharnai (183-94) came up with 21 points and 7 rebounds and forward Sergey Kalachikov (195-3) added 19 points respectively for Jambyl in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Barsy 2. They maintain fourth place with 11-5 record. Jambyl lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Barsy 2 will play against league's leader Qazaqstan in Alma-Ata in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jambyl will have a break next round.

It was an exceptional evening for guard Stanislav Sahipov (190-2) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Daniil Severgin (178-5) accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Four Karaganda players scored in double figures. Guard Vladislav Isaenko (193-4) came up with 8 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Zhenis Zhienkulov (174-4) added 14 points and 6 assists respectively for Namys in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Karaganda. They maintain fifth place with 9-6 record. Newly promoted Namys dropped to the eighth position with 13 games lost. Karaganda will play against league's second-placed Kazygurt in Shymkent in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Namys will play on the road against ChelSU (#9) in Kostanay and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
