Higher League Round 10: Bars are defeated by Kazygurt

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Bars (9-0) in Petropavlovsk on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Kazygurt (7-1) 83-72. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Bars. Kazygurt looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Forward Aleksei Vereshagin (200-92) had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Zhalgasbek Kadyr (180-97) chipped in 14 points and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-94) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Kazygurt have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 7-1 record having just three points less than leader Bars. Bars at the other side still keep top place with 0 game lost.
Bottom-ranked Astana-2 (0-10) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their tenth consecutive match to fourth ranked Barsy 2 (7-3) 80-55. There were no shocking results in the other games in round 10: Namys was destroyed by Jambyl on the opponent's court 90-69. Irtysh managed to outperform ChelSU in a home game 97-87. Karaganda recorded a loss to Qazaqstan on the road 74-66.



Barsy 2 - Astana-2 80-55

Bottom-ranked Astana-2 (0-10) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their tenth consecutive match to fourth ranked Barsy 2 (7-3) 80-55. Barsy 2 forced 22 Astana-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 38-25 including 18 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Point guard Merey Uapov (183-0) notched 9 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and Bogdan Rabchenyuk (186-3) supported him with 12 points and 7 assists. Jambyl - Namys 90-69

Rather expected game when 9th ranked Namys (1-9) were crushed on the road by seventh ranked Jambyl (4-6) 90-69. Jambyl forced 33 Namys turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Guard Andrey Portnyagin (181-94) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Berik Zulharnai (183-94) supported him with 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Jambyl players scored in double figures. Jambyl's coach Aziz Tursunbaev felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds by guard Timur Snegirev (186-4) did not help to save the game for Namys. Guard Vladislav Isaenko (193-4) added 7 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Newly promoted Jambyl maintains seventh position with 4-6 record. Namys lost fifth consecutive game. Namys at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth place with nine games lost. They share the position with ChelSU.

Rather predictable result in Pavlodar where sixth ranked Irtysh (6-4) defeated 8th ranked ChelSU (1-9) 97-87. Irtysh dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to ChelSU's 46. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 36 assists. Forward Alexey Umnov (197-1) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and guard Ruslan Izmaylov (183-99) supported him with 16 points and 6 assists. Irtysh's coach Zhuldys Baydusenova used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 29 points and 12 rebounds by guard Dmitriy Luchko (193-97) did not help to save the game for ChelSU. Not a big story in a game in Alma-Ata where 6th ranked Karaganda (5-5) was defeated by second ranked Qazaqstan (9-1) 74-66. Qazaqstan dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Karaganda's 24. They outrebounded Karaganda 38-18 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Qazaqstan players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Swingman Eset Zharkylov (195-98) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international forward Denis Degtyarev (198-90) supported him with 13 points and 5 rebounds.
