Higher League Round 2: Namys lose to Irtysh in the game between Top 4 teams

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Higher League. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Alma-Ata. host Namys lost to Irtysh 95-80. Irtysh dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Namys' 34. Irtysh forced 21 Namys turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by Namys helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Vadim Bagrov (187-0) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Alexey Umnov (197-1) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Guard Vladislav Isaenko (193-4) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 19 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Irtysh is looking forward to face Karaganda at home in the next round. Namys will play against Bars in Petropavlovsk and are hoping to win this game.
The game in Astana supposed to be also worth to mention about. Bars played at the court of Astana-2. Bars smashed Astana-2 82-33. Guard Artem Kozyrkin (185-98) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 assists to lead the effort and Sergey Dyatlik supported him with 18 points and 4 steals. Even 8 points by guard Askar Serimbet (181-6) did not help to save the game for Astana-2. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bars will play against Namys in Alma-Ata in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Astana-2 will play on the road against Qazaqstan in Alma-Ata to get more than just one victory in their record.

In the last two games of round 2 bottom-ranked Jambyl lost to Kazygurt on the opponent's court 67-110. Winless ChelSU unfortunately lost to Qazaqstan in a home game 68-73.



Namys - Irtysh 80-95

Kazygurt - Jambyl 110-67

Very expected game in Shymkent where Jambyl was crushed by Kazygurt 110-67. Kazygurt dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Jambyl's 34. They outrebounded Jambyl 62-34 including a 45-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Erasyl Batyrbai (185-3) notched 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Aleksei Vereshagin (200-92) supported him with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Four Kazygurt players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 9 rebounds by guard Andrey Portnyagin (181-94) did not help to save the game for Jambyl. Guard Nursultan Isaev (174-95) added 16 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kazygurt will play against Barsy 2 in Atyrau in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Jambyl will play at home against ChelSU to get more than just one victory in their record.

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Qazaqstan's road victory over ChelSU 73-68. The former international forward Denis Degtyarev (198-90) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and swingman Eset Zharkylov (195-98) supported him with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Qazaqstan's coach Aidana Iskakova allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 21 points and 16 rebounds by power forward Victor Gorshkov (198-89) did not help to save the game for ChelSU. Guard Dmitriy Luchko (193-97) added 15 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Four ChelSU players scored in double figures. Qazaqstan will play against Astana-2 at home in the next round where they are favorite. ChelSU will play against Jambyl to get more than just one victory in their record.
