Higher League Round 22: Leader Bars get another victory

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

Leader Bars delivered the twentieth win on Wednesday night. This time they beat 8th ranked MBJSM (1-22) 86-76 in Petropavlovsk. Bars dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to MBJSM's 42. Bars forced 20 MBJSM turnovers and outrebounded them 50-35 including a 34-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Power forward Maksim Nalagov (198-94) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Roman Dedov (193-99) chipped in 18 points. Bars' coach Sergei Moor used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Zhenis Zhienkulov (174-4) produced 24 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for lost side. Bars have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 20-2 record. MBJSM lost fourteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Bars are looking forward to face Karaganda (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. MBJSM will play against the league's second-placed Kazygurt (#2) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
The game in Atyrau was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Karaganda (16-7) played at the court of 6th ranked Barsy 2 (7-16). Karaganda did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 83-64. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Ilyas Shakir (188-0) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds. Muha Nikolay contributed with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Center Timur Tangiev (193-3) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for Barsy 2. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Karaganda have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Karaganda maintains third position with 16-7 record having three points less than leader Bars. Barsy 2 at the other side keeps the sixth place with 16 games lost. Karaganda will play against league's leader Bars in Petropavlovsk in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Barsy 2 will play on the road against Irtysh (#5) in Pavlodar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 22 Irtysh was defeated by Kazygurt in Shymkent 74-67.
The best stats of 22th round was 27 points and 13 rebounds by Muslim Shakirov of Kazygurt.

Barsy 2 - Karaganda 64-83

Kazygurt - Irtysh 74-67

There was no surprise in Shymkent where 5th ranked Irtysh (9-14) was defeated by second ranked Kazygurt (18-5) 74-67. It was a very good performance for Muslim Shakirov who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Zhalgasbek Kadyr (180-97) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Victor Verzun (197-1) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and guard Pavel Bruhovets (174-1) added 8 points in the effort for Irtysh. Irtysh's coach Zhuldys Baydusenova rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Kazygurt maintains second position with 18-5 record having just one point less than leader Bars. Irtysh lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 14 games lost. Kazygurt will play against bottom-ranked MBJSM (#8) in Alma-Ata in the next round where they are favorite. Irtysh will play at home against Barsy 2 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
