Barsy Atyrau clinched D1 title. They overcame BC Astana in the third game of the championship series and captured the trophy. Barsy Atyrau earned the first D1 title since 2012 breaking up BC Astana's dominance. Five players scored in double digits for the champions. Astana claimed a 25:20 lead ten minutes into the game. The teams traded baskets throughout the second term. BC Astana eked out a 41:40 halftime advantage. However Barsy Atyrau turned things around in the second half. The visitors pulled ahead in the third term building a 62:50 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Barsy Atyrau protected the lead throughout the final stanza and rallied to the decisive win. Ryan Cook (190-G-90, college: UMBC) finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Mikhail Evstigneev (202-F/C-84) added 15 points for the winning side. Alexey Zhukanenko (210-F-86, agency: Alti Sport) and Jerry Johnson (182-PG-82, college: Rider, agency: Beo Basket) answered with 15 points each for BC Astana.
Almatynski Legion celebrated the Kazakh Cup title. They overcame Kapshagay in overtime thriller in the Final today. Yuriy Kozhanov (190-G-90) stepped up with 25 points to pace the winners. Kapshagay eked out a 17:16 lead ten minutes into the game. Almatynski Legion surged ahead in the second period. They ensured a 38:36 halftime advantage. Legion maintained the advantage throughout the third term. They registered a 3-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. But Kapshagay nailed 23 points in the next period and sent the game into overtime. But Almatynski Legion survived the extra period and iced the victory. Andrey Litvinenko (195-G/F-97) produced 23 points, while Vsevolod Fadeikin (206-C-85) added 13 points for the winners. Anton Bykov (200-F-89) replied with 20 points and 13 rebounds for Kapshagay. Daniil Seleznev (186-PG-90) netted 16 points in the defeat.
