Premier League Round 5: Al Jubaiha lose to Orthodox in the game between Top 4 teams

Very significant was Orthodox's (#1, 5-0) victory against 4th placed Al Jubaiha (2-3) 93-72. Orthodox looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. The former international forward Ahmad Alhamarsheh (197-1987) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners and the former international guard Freddy Ibrahim (190-1996, college: Tampa) chipped in 12 points and 11 assists. Guyanese-American forward Kevin Mickle (201-1993, college: Ohio) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds. Al Jubaiha's coach Yousef Abu Baker gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Undefeated Orthodox (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Al Jubaiha at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost.
Bottom-ranked Al Ashrafiyah (0-5) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to third ranked Al Riyadi (3-2) 101-83. The former international forward Ahmad Obeid (197-1990) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Brandon Spearman accounted for 21 points. American guard Terrence Joyner (190-1988, college: MVSU) came up with 18 points and 4 assists for Al Ashrafiyah in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Al Riyadi. They maintain third place with 3-2 record having just two points less than leader Orthodox. Al Ashrafiyah lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost.

The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains second place with 4-1 record behind leader Orthodox. Kofer Yoba lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with four games lost.

Second ranked Al Ahli (4-1) crushed at home 5th ranked Kofer Yoba (1-4) by 56 points 115-59, which is the biggest margin this round on Monday night. Al Ahli dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Kofer Yoba's 44. Al Ahli forced 20 Kofer Yoba turnovers and outrebounded them 51-35 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Kofer Yoba's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Gerard Tarin (206-1996, college: Nova SE) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Zane Najdawi (201-1996, college: Citadel) chipped in 25 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field).
