Regular Season Round 5: Al Ashrafiyah - Al Riyadi 83-101

Bottom-ranked Al Ashrafiyah (0-5) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to third ranked Al Riyadi (3-2) 101-83. Al Riyadi players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The former international forward Ahmad Obeid (197-1990) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and American swingman Brandon Spearman (191-1991, college: Hawaii) accounted for 21 points. Spearman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. American guard Terrence Joyner (190-1988, college: MVSU) came up with 18 points and 4 assists and Ahmad Aburashed (-2002) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Al Ashrafiyah in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Al Riyadi. They maintain third place with 3-2 record having just two points less than leader Orthodox. Al Ashrafiyah lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost.
