Alex Kirk is a newcomer at Brave Thunders

Kawasaki Brave Thunders (B1 League) strengthened their roster with the addition of experienced 34-year-old Japanese-American international center Alex Kirk (211cm-114kg-1991, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) for the 2026-27 season. Kirk has played for the last three years at Ryukyu Golden Kings Okinawa in the B1 League. In 67 games, he recorded 10.5ppg, 6.6rpg, and 1.5apg last season, helping them reach the Japanese League final. He was voted to the Asia-Basket.com All-Japanese League Honorable Mention and All-Domestic Players Team. Kirk also played 8 games in the East Asia Super League, averaging an impressive 15.1ppg, 7.9rpg, and 2.1apg, contributing to his team's semifinal appearance.
Kirk represented Japan at the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers last year. During this event, he scored an average of 17.3 points per game and had 11.7 rebounds per game.
He is a quite experienced player. Thanks to his pro career, he managed to play on three different continents (Europe, Asia, and North America) in seven different countries. Kirk has played professionally in China (Loong Lions), Italy (Pistoia), Turkey (Efes), NBA (NY Knicks), NBA G League (Cleveland Charge), and The Basketball Tournament (Armored Athlete and Eberlein Drive).
Kirk's team won the Japanese Cup in 2025.
He graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2014 and this will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) season as a professional player.
