Phelps' double-double lands him B3 League Player of the Week award

35-year old USA-PHIn forward Eugene Phelps (198-F-1990) had a very impressive game in the last round for Niigata Albirex and receives a Hoops Agents B3 League Player of the Week award for round 50.
He had a double-double of 20 points and 17 rebounds, while his team beat Shinagawa (#14, 11-37) 77-67. Albirex maintains the 5th position in Japanese B3 League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Niigata A. will need more victories to improve their 29-19 record. Phelps turned to be Albirex's top player in his first season with the team. Eugene Phelps averages this season 13.8ppg and 8.4rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Jeremy Combs (201-F/C-1995) of Earthfriends Tokyo Z. He is American forward in his first season at Tokyo Z. In the last game Combs recorded an impressive double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Earthfriends lost that game 65-90 to the higher-ranked Kanazawa (#8, 25-23). Tokyo Z is still in a red zone at 12th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 15-33 record. Combs is a newcomer at Tokyo Z and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.3ppg (#4). He also registered 9.2 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to another Niigata A.'s star - center Mutombo Jean-Pierre (206-C-2002). Jean-Pierre scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of Niigata Albirex, helping his team with a 77-67 win against the lower-ranked Shinagawa (#14, 11-37). Albirex needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 29 victories and 19 lost games. Jean-Pierre has a very solid season. In 48 games in Japan he scored 11.3ppg. He also has 8.9rpg, 2.4bpg and a FGP of 71.8%.
